The Simple Life

The Simple Life is a US television reality series originally broadcast in 2003.

The series juxtaposes two young, weathly urban socialites with the values of a rural American farming community. Paris Hilton, heir to the Hilton hotel fortune, and her friend Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie move in with a family in Altus, Arkansas for a month.

The show's entertainment value stems from the perception that the two women are out of touch with reality.

The show might be compared to the late 1960's television situation comedy Green Acres.

A second season titled The Simple Life 2 began broadcasting in the Summer of 2004. In this series, the debutants traveled across the United States pulling an airstream trailer with a pink pickup truck. They participated in such activities as catching crawfish, working on a farm, and sausage making.

A third season, during which Hilton and Richie will take various internships with companies along the East Coast. The program began taping in October 2004 for air in early 2005.
